How Much Does a Math Tutor Cost in Edmonton?
Math tutoring in Edmonton usually costs between $20 and $70 an hour, according to a 2026 price survey by TutorLyft. The price is only half the question, though. What you need to know is what you get for that hour.
What changes the price
- Experience. A high school student tutoring Grade 5 math costs less than a tutor who knows the Math 30-1 diploma exam well.
- Grade level. Math 30-1 and Math 31 tutoring costs more than elementary math.
- One-on-one or group. A small group splits the cost; one-on-one moves at your child’s pace.
- In person or online. Online sessions usually cost the same or less, with no driving.
- Commitment. Monthly plans usually cost less per hour than paying as you go.

- Do you start with an assessment, so you know what to work on?
- Do you know the Alberta curriculum for my child’s grade or course?
- How will you tell me whether it’s working?
- Can my child message you with homework questions between sessions?
- What happens if we miss a session?
